What this tool does

Split PDF breaks one PDF into several smaller ones. Type the page ranges you want and each becomes its own file, cut the document into chunks of the same number of pages, or save every page as a separate PDF. Pages are copied as they are, so text stays sharp and selectable. Your original file is not changed.

How to split a PDF

  1. Choose a PDF, or drop it onto the box above.
  2. Pick how to split it: by page ranges, every so many pages, or into single pages.
  3. For ranges, type them separated by commas, for example 1-3, 5, 8-.
  4. Select Split PDF, then download the files one by one or all together as a zip.

What happens to your file

We never upload your file. The split happens inside this browser tab, on your own device, and the new PDFs are created there too. Nothing is sent to our servers or stored by us.

What it cannot do

  • It cannot open a password-protected PDF. Remove the password first with Unlock PDF, using the password you already have.
  • Bookmarks and links between pages are not carried into the new files.
  • The file can be up to 200 MB.

Frequently asked questions

Three: by ranges you type, such as 1-3, 5, 8-10; into chunks of a fixed number of pages; or into one PDF for every single page.

Choose split by ranges and type only the pages you want, for example 2-4. You get a new PDF containing those pages, and your original file is left untouched.

The split happens in your browser on your own device. We never upload your file, so the document is not sent to or kept on our servers.
