What this tool does
Sign PDF puts your signature on a PDF, such as a lease, a contract or a form someone has emailed you. Draw your signature with your finger or a mouse, type your name and have it set in a handwriting style, or take a photo of your signature on paper. Then tap the page where it belongs, drag it onto the line, and download the signed copy. If the document asks for initials on every page, add those too: they go small in the bottom-right corner of each page.
How to sign a PDF
- Choose the PDF, or drop it onto the box above.
- Make your signature: draw it, type it, or photograph it. Add initials if every page needs them.
- Choose Next, go to the right page and tap where your signature goes. Drag it onto the line and resize it.
- Select Sign PDF, then download the signed file.
What happens to your file and your signature
We never upload your file or your signature. Both are processed inside this browser tab, on your own device. Nothing is sent to our servers or stored by us, and your signature is not saved for next time. The original file is not changed: you download a new, signed copy.
What it cannot do
- It adds a picture of your signature, which is what most everyday paperwork asks for. It is not a certified digital signature: there is no certificate or identity check behind it, and it does not show as "signed" in a PDF reader's signature panel.
- It places one signature. To sign in two places, sign once, then open the signed file here and sign again.
- Initials always go in the bottom-right corner, on every page.
- It does not fill in form fields or add a date.
- It cannot open a password-protected PDF. Remove the password first with Unlock PDF, using the password you already have.
- The file can be up to 200 MB.
Frequently asked questions
In many countries a picture of your signature on a document is accepted as an electronic signature for everyday paperwork such as leases, forms and letters of agreement. It is not a certified digital signature: there is no certificate or identity check behind it. If the other side asks for a certified or qualified signature, use the service they name.

Switch on "Add initials to every page" and make your initials the same way as your signature. They are placed small, in the bottom-right corner of every page, including the page you sign.
No. We never upload your file or your signature. Both are processed inside this browser tab, and nothing is saved for next time, so you make your signature again each visit.
Not with this tool. Keep your original file: signing makes a new copy and leaves the original as it was. Someone with a PDF editor could move or copy the signature, which is why Protect PDF can be used to lock the signed file.
